Where Are We Now?

After significant resident, community leader and transportation industry involvement, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has completed the first of a two-phase study to assess the changing transportation needs in five northeast Kansas counties. The Phase 1 final report is available in the Reports section.

Phase 2 of the study, which began January 2011, involves prioritizing the needs identified in Phase 1 and developing strategies to address them. A Stakeholder Advisory Panel has been meeting to develop criteria to evaluate each of the corridors and will recommend priority corridors and strategies to address them. The Corridor Strategies Working Group will apply the criteria to the corridors assist in developing the strategies. At the conclusion of this phase, expected in the second quarter of 2012, KDOT will have identified priority corridors and strategies.
