5 County Transportation Study View Community Perspectives Interactive Map

How Did It All Start?

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) met with Douglas, Johnson, Leavenworth, Miami, and Wyandotte counties to discuss changes occurring in the region and the need to develop an overall vision for future transportation improvements.

All of the study partners recognized that rapid economic development in five northeast Kansas counties is straining the transportation infrastructure needed to support this growth. In addition, current and anticipated funding is not sufficient for all the transportation improvements that have been suggested for this area.

The study was initiated to develop recommendations that are technically feasible, politically acceptable, and financially realistic.
